Community Event: Collaboration in Crisis: Utilizing Peer Recovery Coach Support in the ED to Maximize Patient Outcomes
Brought to you by the National Council for Wellbeing
Join the National Council for Mental Wellbeing and the Providers Clinical Support System (PCSS) Wednesday, May 26, as we welcome a leading South Carolina-based team to learn best practices for working with and integrating peer recovery coaches in hospital and emergency department (ED) settings.
Transitions in care are critical for the recovery and wellbeing of patients who present to the ED with substance use-related concerns, including overdose. Team-based strategies between clinicians and peer recovery coaches support continuity of comprehensive care for these individuals. You will: · Identify team-based strategies to engage patients in the ED and after discharge. · Discuss how recovery coaches and clinicians partner to support patients presenting in the ED with substance use-related concerns. · Identify strategies to reduce stigma surrounding substance use among clinicians and hospital staff. · Describe best practices for working with and integrating peers in hospital and ED settings.
