Community event: Team-Based Care to Address Psychiatric and Physical Health Co-morbidities in Persons with Opioid Use Disorders

More than 81,000 drug overdose deaths occurred in the United States in the 12 months ending in May 2020, the highest number of overdose deaths ever recorded in a 12-month period. Most of these deaths are driven by the misuse of prescription and illicit opioids. Research suggests that many people with an opioid use disorder also have co-occurring psychiatric disorders and other physical health conditions, making engagement in care complex.
You will:
- Develop an understanding of psychiatric and health conditions common in people with opioid use disorder (OUD).
- Examine team-based treatment approaches to addressing psychiatric and health conditions in people with OUD.
- Explore the importance of networking and communicating with community medical and psychiatric providers to address client needs.
